Land Rover P38 EAS Valve Block Repair

Article By:

Often overlooked by both Land Rover & most independent garages the p38 eas valve block is one of those components that will eventually fail. The o rings in the solenoids & diaphragm seal wear out which can cause many problems including air leaking from the exhaust ports, the car sitting on bump stops or even total EAS failure. Replacing the o rings and diaphragm seal will restore your vehicle to full working order & prolong the life of the compressor & air suspension.

The o rings in the valve block are easy to replace and not too expensive, this is the best way of restoring your EAS to full working order. To complete this project you will need a good assortment of spanners & screwdrivers, a set of pliers, a small crotchet needle and possibly some brass wire or brazing rod to remove the o-rings. A good quality lubricant such as WD-40 should also be handy to ease the removal process.

Start by pulling the air lines aside, using a spanner or socket wrench to remove the two bolts on the air line side of the case and disconnecting the wiring connector from the base of the unit. Now remove the four Allen key bolts on top & two underneath the driver unit and pull it out, making note of orientation of the solenoid covers for re-installation (See the diagram at the beginning of this guide for help).
