2015 BMW X5 Rear Air Suspension Upgrade

The BMW X5 has always been a popular luxury SUV.2015 bmw x5 rear air suspension The new plug in hybrid X5 45e adds another aspect that makes it stand out from the competition, namely its rear air suspension. But like any other system, it's not indestructible and can fail at times. The components of the system can be expensive to repair, especially if you need to replace an electronic component such as height sensors. Strutmasters has a cost effective solution that can save you money and time, our 2000-2006 BMW X5 Rear Air To Coil Spring Conversion Kit.

This kit contains replacement struts with new air springs, a compressor and dryer assembly, and a set of replacement upper and lower spring mounting plates.2015 bmw x5 rear air suspension This kit can be installed for less than the price of replacing just one factory air suspension component at the dealer. It's a great way to get back on the road fast and avoid the high repair bills of repairing the original air suspension.

In addition to the rear air springs, the BMW X5 features front coil and rear shocks. The basic X5 with the Comfort adaptive suspension has coils in the rear and shocks in the front, while the M variant uses an optional air suspension package with rear torque vectoring to keep the car stable and planted in the corners. The M option also includes a dynamic drive active roll stabilization system that can use information sent to the suspension control unit from stability control and steering angle sensors to stiffen or loosen the adaptive sway bars as needed.

These adaptive systems are very useful when driving aggressively on a racetrack or in stop and go traffic. But the X5 M also handles nicely on the road and can easily keep pace with other cars on a highway. The X5 M rides on 285/40R19 tires with a mix of dry and wet weather capabilities. The tires are a bit wide for the chassis, but they provide a solid contact patch.

Other highlights include the iDrive infotainment system's 3D navigation maps and augmented reality capabilities that show a top-down view of the environment when you're in a parking garage or similar scenario. The head-up display is also quite nice, but I found the colors were too washed out for it to be usable in bright sunlight when I was navigating around town.

Another key feature is the X5 M's rear-wheel drive with a mechanical limited-slip differential. This lets the driver choose between Efficient, Sport, and Sport Plus modes that alter the throttle response and shift points. I liked the Sport Plus setting, which made the X5 M more responsive when accelerating and turning on a back-country road.
