Understanding the Operation of the W639 Air Spring and Air Suspension

The W639 air spring and air suspension are a modern model made for trucks, SUVs, and other vehicles. It was designed by truck manufacturers to be able to provide the truck with a better suspension system that offers more suspension travel over its average counter parts. Some manufacturers are saying this model offers up to 5% more ground clearance than other brands offer.

There are two different ways to think about air springs and suspensions. They can either be coilover suspensions or a hydraulic one. These are the two types you see on monster trucks, off road race cars, and SUVs. Coilover suspensions are used on high performance vehicles like trucks to provide a very quick and smooth ride.

There is a hydraulic version of the air spring that is used in many trucks as well. The W639 hydraulic air spring has a hydraulic cylinder that supplies the power for the spring. When the vehicle slows down, the piston forces the hydraulic cylinder to compress and expand. This provides more suspension travel over the axle. This spring is much heavier than a rollover, so it must be installed correctly if you want to mount it on your vehicle. It must be put in the right spot and must be mounted on your axle in the right way.

With the weight of the hydraulic spring you will need a good set of tires to go along with it. Most manufacturers recommend tires with at least an inch of give and a minimum tread of one quarter of an inch. The air spring and air suspension will work best with tires that have at least an inch of give and a minimum tread of one quarter of an inch.

In order for the air spring to work properly it must be well oiled. You will not be able to use the oil that comes with most electric vehicles to properly lubricate the spring because the air is not there. The oil will just stir things up. The best thing to do is to take your car to an auto service location and have them check the spring for proper oiling.

The W639 air spring and air suspension will be a great addition to your vehicle. Many of the new vehicles today will incorporate this type of suspension. However, you should know that you will need to replace the spring if you use an older vehicle without built in suspensions. The older vehicles will not have the capacity to handle this heavy spring.
