Mercedes W292 Air Suspension

Throughout the 2000’s Mercedes began equipping some of their vehicles with air suspension as an alternative to steel-spring systems.w292 air suspension This system is known as Mercedes w292 air suspension and can be found in models like the S-class. This suspension is designed to keep the vehicle level and stable on rough roads around Eastvale and Fontana while still providing a comfortable ride for the passengers. This system also allows the driver to change driving modes in order to adjust for road conditions.

Air suspension can make a huge difference when hauling heavy loads. It helps the truck stay level from side to side while also reducing body roll when going through curves. It’s easy to see why these systems are becoming more popular for commercial use.

The air suspension system has many moving parts that are prone to failure. It starts with the compressor which is responsible for producing compressed air. If the compressor fails then little to no air will be produced and the suspension system will fail to work. The compressor can fail to start due to lack of voltage which could be caused by a bad compressor relay or a blown fuse that engages the system. Alternatively, the compressor can blow out or burn up which is often due to age and wear. Luckily these units are easy to replace at home with the right tools and parts.

The most common failures occur in the rear airbags that are part of the air suspension. These are prone to leaks at the hose connection or can simply burst from age. If the vehicle is raised and then left to sit overnight and one side appears lower than the other then it’s a good idea to remove an airline from the airbag and look for aluminum pitting where it is clamped to the rubber hose.
