Mercedes-Benz W222 Oil Abc Strut Failures and Repairs

The W222 S-Class has become the flagship of Mercedes, offering great ride comfort thanks to air suspension.w222 oil abc strut However, like any other vehicle, it has some problems that can occur. One of the most common problems is a failure of the front air suspension strut. The strut is a monotube shock absorber with electromagnetic damping valves that change setting based on commands from the suspension control module. It also has an air spring assembly that is responsible for height adjustment. If the air strut fails, it will stop rising and may produce an audible hissing noise. If the strut doesn’t fill, it means the compressor isn’t working properly and you should get it repaired right away.

The front air struts are controlled by a sensor that measures the height of the chassis and transmission.w222 oil abc strut The sensor produces a voltage that is sent to the Airmatic control module and translated to axle height. The Airmatic control module then sends the appropriate air pressure to the air spring to raise or lower the car. The sensor is located at the front of the strut tower and is connected to a link rod that’s attached directly to the upper control arm. If the sensor fails, it will no longer produce a signal and the Airmatic control module will not activate the struts.

Another problem that has been reported on owners forums is a failure of the fuel pump/tank sensors.w222 oil abc strut This could cause the car to lose power or even die. Luckily, this is a fairly easy issue to fix with a simple software update.

A number of owners have reported that the Comand infotainment system has random issues. These include the screen going black, navigation problems, and random occurrences where the system shuts itself off. This is an easy fix, so if you’re considering buying a W222 S-Class make sure it had the latest updates installed.

There have also been reports of the OM651 diesel engine having some problems. If you’re thinking of getting a W222 S-Class with this engine, be sure to read these articles: OM651 Diesel Engine Problems and OM651 Diesel Engine Repair.
