Land Rover P38 Valve Block

The EAS (Electronic Air Suspension) valve block is one of those things that Land Rover doesn’t tell you about in the manual, and is usually a complete mystery to independent shops.

The p38 has a complex set of electronics and relays that control the operation of the air suspension system. They do this by measuring pressure changes at the air springs and compressor allowing it to adjust accordingly. The most important component is the valve block which houses the electronic controls for the air springs, and it also houses the air snorting compressor.

First the o-rings

The best way to remove the o-rings is to use a small flat screwdriver blade or a crotchet needle. The o-rings are attached to the main body of the block using tiny metal collets.

Changing the o-rings isn’t the most difficult of tasks, but it does require a bit of attention to detail and a good set of spanners.

Reinstalling the o-rings is straightforward, but it may be a good idea to check the pathway is clear by pushing a smaller drill bit through the hole.

The p38 valve block is a great performer and deserves the best possible care. It is recommended to get it serviced as part of your EAS maintenance program, otherwise you could end up with a leaking system or worse still, a complete failure.
