How to Install W221 Oil ABC Strut

The w221 oil abc strut is a system that does the same thing as standard struts do, but it takes it a step further. It contains both a spring and a shock absorber. The spring does the heavy lifting, while the shock absorber keeps the spring from oscillating or "bouncing". It also contains a hydraulic fluid chamber, which allows it to be raised and lowered by adding or subtracting ABC fluid.

To replace the front air strut, jack up the vehicle and support it with jack stands. Remove the lug nuts on the front wheel and pull the tire. Loosen the 10mm bolt on the airline above the strut with a wrench and pull it to remove it. Remove the 13mm bolts above the strut with a socket wrench. Use a hammer to push down on the port of the 21mm mounting bolt and remove it.

Adding ABC sealant to the hydraulic fluid will probably help for a while, but it's not a solution that should be relied upon. If you have to add sealant, do so in small amounts and follow the manufacturer's recommendation on how much to use.
