How to Fix a Faulty Range Rover Air Suspension Valve Block

The Range Rover Air Suspension system is a brilliant piece of engineering.range rover air suspension valve block It allows you to alter the ride height of your vehicle for different terrains and loads, and it can offer a fantastic road or off-road experience. But this incredible system can be prone to problems. It can be difficult to jack the car and when it’s not at its full height, it becomes almost impossible to drive properly on rough terrain. The Height Sensors in the Range Rover can also suffer from damage, causing the system to fail and sag. This is usually a result of excessive exposure to tough terrains and weather conditions. But luckily, all of these problems can be fixed, with just the right knowledge and tools.

The valve block is a crucial part of the EAS (Electronic Air Suspension) system, and it shouldn’t be neglected. It takes care of the distribution of pressurised air, sending it from the compressor to four of the corners that use the air suspension, and the pressure reservoir. This is done through a series of solenoid valves, controlled by the computer and the pressure sensors.

If the vehicle stays at a specific ride height, a faulty valve block might be the culprit, although this might also be caused by a faulty air compressor or relay. Therefore, you should always check the workings of these two components before suspecting a fault with the valve block itself.

First of all, you need to remove the air lines from the valve block and clean the area around them with some soapy water. This will help you to spot any leaks and find the source of the problem. Once you have cleaned the area, you can start removing the components from the valve block. This can be done by using an 8mm spanner to undo the three bolts that hold the unit in place – two on the air line side and one at the back near the cruise control unit.

Once the air lines and wiring connectors have been removed, the unit should slide out with ease. Before reassembly, it is a good idea to replace the thin o-ring on the solenoid valve stem, and a little lube can help to seat and seal it. Also, it is very important to make sure that the Air Spring and Inlet/Exhaust solenoids are not mixed up. This is easy enough to do if you have numbered them on the top, and noted their orientation for reassembly in the diagram at the beginning of this guide.

Once these are all replaced, it’s a good idea to give everything a thorough inspection, and make sure that there are no loose connections or broken parts in the circuit. Then, you can start putting everything back together again. Before re-inserting the air lines, it is helpful to chamfer the ends of the tubes with a sharp tool like a pencil sharpener, and a light smear of lube can help too.
