How to Fix a Bmw F11 Rear Suspension Air Bag Leak

The bmw f11 rear suspension air bag is a key component of your luxury ride. It inflates to absorb shocks, adjust your ride height, and much more. But, if the air spring leaks, your dignified stance will slope to one side and you’ll be looking at ultra-expensive repairs.

Most ‘professional’ garages won’t even know what the problem is and will advise you to replace both the air bags, airlines, and compressor at a cost of over PS1,000. Over 95% of the time the problem is caused by a simple leaking solenoid valve. This article will show you how to find the air leak and how to easily fix it yourself, for a fraction of the cost.

First, jack your car up, securely secure it with jack stands underneath, and remove the rear tyre. Now you can have a clear view of your rear air strut and access the valve block. Tap the solenoid valve with a hammer to release the air, listen for a hissing sound to confirm you’ve freed it, then drain the remaining air by turning the air valve counter-clockwise (about half a turn).
